"Abbey
Road Band" Beatles Music...LIVE! The Abbey Road Band is THE Beatles tribute band for Beatles music fans and Beatles music purists. This is quite a claim, as many people profess to know Beatles songs down to the slightest nuance in vocals or instrumentation. Such is the knowledge of true Beatles fans; they know each note and harmony. True Beatles fans know how the vocals intertwine, how the unusual harmonies compliment the lead vocals and how the Beatles created a new Rock and Roll genre with incomparable musicianship. The Abbey Road Band is made up of four superlative musicians, who share the passion of those Beatles fans who witnessed that first wave of “Beatlemania” in the early sixties. The band understands the audiences who were swept up in the wave of Beatles music from the first chord on the “Ed Sullivan Show” to the last song on “Let it Be” and beyond. The Abbey Road Band doesn’t wear Beatle wigs or period costumes, they have something far better. They were there. They lived the Beatles explosion and have dedicated their musical lives to recapture that perfect music and that perfect moment. What makes this band so special? Monte Madison, who plays the parts of Paul McCartney has the vocal tonality and musical versatility of Paul McCartney. Monte plays bass guitar, keyboards, acoustic guitar and sings with a voice that resonates the tones and passion of Paul McCartney. McCartney has an energy in his voice that changes vastly throughout the Beatles repertoire. Monte Madison is one of the few performers in the world who can clearly express the expanse of Paul McCartney’s talent. Fred Gondzar, playing and singing the parts of John Lennon, has the vocal sound of John. It is so much a part of him that Fred becomes John Lennon with his voice and in his heart. He plays guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, and harmonica. In fact, the harmonica is an instrument that Fred learned and incorporated into the Abbey Road Band. Harmonica is as much a part of “Love Me Do” as any drum, vocal or guitar part; it’s hard to imagine the song without it. Don Lerdal is the band’s musical director, guitar master and plays the parts of George Harrison. Don is the expert on the unusual structure of the Beatles harmonies and the surprising chords they used in song construction. It takes a keen ear to construct and reproduce Beatles songs so precisely. Don and the band feel strongly that it is not their job to “interpret” Beatles material so every song is played as closely as possible to the original recording. Tony Johnson plays the parts of Ringo in Abbey Road Band. As a drummer, Ringo was almost written off by the Beatles producer, George Martin. Today, no one can deny the British rock and roll drum style invented by Ringo Starr. Ringo sang, played drums and keyboards, along with penning some of the most memorable songs from the Fab Four. Tony Johnson gives the audience Ringo in all his musical glory. The Abbey Road Band - from their humble beginnings 10 years ago, have now become one of the most sought after Beatles Tribute Bands in the United States. They don’t wear wigs or costumes. They don’t try to look like the Beatles. What the Abbey Road Band does is SOUND like the Beatles. No band has influenced pop culture the way the Beatles have. This is Beatles music played live.
